SUDOKU
PUZZLES

Wikipedia.com, the free encyclopedia defines Sudoku:

Sudoku (Japanese: , sūdoku), sometimes spelled Su Doku, is a placement puzzle, also known as Number Place in the United States. The aim of the puzzle is to enter a numeral from 1 through 9 in each cell of a grid, most frequently a 9×9 grid made up of 3×3 subgrids (called "regions"), starting with various numerals given in some cells (the "givens"). Each row, column and region must contain only one instance of each numeral. Completing the puzzle requires patience and logical ability. Its grid layout is reminiscent of other newspaper puzzles like crosswords and chess problems. Sudoku initially became popular in Japan in 1986 and attained international popularity in 2005.

The PSPUZZLES' games are variants of the Japanese puzzles, in that a given number may repeat in a row, or column, but may not repeat in the same position of other regions of the game.  An example would be, in a 9X9 square, if the number 1 appears in position #1 of region #1, then it will not repeat in position #1 of regions #2-9.

In example #1, a 9X9 square, number 5 appears in the first position of region #1 only, and does not repeat again in the first position in regions 2-8.  Number 1 appears in the second position of region #2, but does not repeat again in that position in grids 1, 3-9.

Sodoku Example #1

|325| |847| |932|
|847| |169| |584|
|169| |325| |716|

In this game, a 9X9, letā€™s call it a volcano, the number 9 appears in the fourth position of region #4, but does not repeat in the fourth position of region 1-3 or

5-9.  The number 9 also appears in the fifth position of region #5, but does not repeat in the fifth position of regions 1-4 or 6-9.

In this example, a 9X9 cross, the number 6 appears in the fifth position of region #5, but does not repeat in the fifth position of region 1-4 or 6-9.  The number 1  appears in the sixth position of region #6, but does not repeat in the sixth position of regions 1-5 or 7-9.
